lpg

I was in Morrocco a few years ago and I thought I saw lpg for sale at some fuel stations and remember being a little surprised by the fact that it was avaliable there but not in Spain, but really didn“t take much notice as I was driving a diesel at the time.

Can anyone confirm if lpg is avaliable and is it in most places or only the big cities.
Thanks
Jo

Hello,

not sure if LPG is available in Morocco, but would not be surprised if it would be possible to fill your LPG-tank at a normal plant where little gastanks (for cooking) are filled.

Greetz,

Karel

HI !!. As far as I know , there are some LPG petrol stations in Madrid , and a few in Sevilla , where some of the city-taxis run on LPG.

Having said that , you can run your LPG vehicle on propane/butane so actually fitting any gas-cooking gas bottle would do the trick. But I find it extremely unsuitable for Moroccan /African trips. And ITs probbably gonna cost more than a diesel.let alone the hassle of bargaining every refuelling (no fixed prices as in petrol) and being constanly worried about gas availability- or carry insane amounts of gas cilinders.

Can not see the point on using LPG in Africa, really.

I travelled in two LPG/petrol Range Rovers from the UK to Senegal and back in 2002. I agree that there might not be much price advantage of LPG in Africa but keeping some LPG for emergency's did prove very worthwile when things went wrong with petrol system. If your in a hurry to move on then you can simply switch to LPG and look at the petrol problem later. Not to mention how much money you save on the highspeed run from UK - Africa.
