Libyan visa

So how is the Libyan visa situation right now? I hear some European tourists are still getting visa at the border, despite the Schengen ban. What about the Libyan Desert Challenge? Can it take place as scheduled this month?

I hear the Libyan Desert Challenge will probably be moved to Tunisia, although the organisation still hope they can enter Libya.

The situation ist still unclear as the ban hasn't been offcialy removed.

News just published and circulating among italians private trip organizers reporting that only the italian citizens are allowed to entre the Country are to be considered totally false and tendentious.

Actually peoples of all nations are entering the country , but with and under concession released at the airport .

For the Desert Challenge here we have good hope, but suggest to contact directly the organization as we did.

Cheers Budrinna.

We have a balloon event happening in Libya at the moment, but with non-Schengen citizens only.

The Libya Rally (as was LDC) is taking place in Tunisia.

There is presently no date set for allowing Schengen people in again - but perhaps Budrinna has some info?

Sam.

Libyan/Swis rilations are here at the centre of pressing high level talks mainly from Spain actually in charge of E.U. rotating presidency.

Up to an official end of the crisis the filter at the border will be unpredictable for citizens from Shenghen area's. No problem for others.

lately problems with italians 4x4 group refused at Ejdir and with the payment for the local agency waitng for them at the borde, so this confirm that news diffused by some italians sahara's websites are not reliable .

Must wait .

Hot sparks between Italy &Swiss on the ban’s matter after Frattini’s ultimatum.
Great loss of business for Italians T.O. for this Easter season as nothing is still sure.

Fessano-W Tours tells me that US Citizens cannot get a transit or tourist visa for Libya at this time. Can anyone confirm this?

It's been this way for many years AFAIK (unless your work for Schlumberger).

Very occasionally one hears of exceptions.
