Libya in Dec 4x4 - looking for another vehicle

We are planning a 3-week trip to Libya or Algeria over Christmas, taking our Discovery from the UK.

We would like to find another vehicle to travel with for safety and company.

We have a fair degree of overland experience (UK to cape town 1998-99), but little in the way of deserts.

Please post a message!

We'll be in Libya at that time - most likely in the Akakus, if you are interested either send email reply to this forum or to alfaw@freeuk.com, okay?

Hope to hear from you soon

Am planning on entering Libya in early december on route for Egypt (for Christmas). Still in the process of geting a visa sorted out, now in spain. Probably difficult to hook up re border crossings as time lines are estimates at this stage (travelling across N. africa from), but would be keen to meet up my email is ctc_wakamaba@hotmail.com . What are your thoughts re itinerary in Libya?

Dear traveller
I am interested to hear of your December trip to Libya.
I plan to go there in November with my 1999 Land Rover Discovery.
I shall probably travel with a French tour group (they call it a 'raid') and we shall drive through the Awbari sand sea, navigating by GPS. Comforting thought to have several vehicles as back up, even though I prefer to travel alone.
Also the visa aggro will be handled by someone else, which will be a relief!
Best wishes Kit

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
