Khartoum, only decent place is National Camping ground. And that is confirmed
 

We had a look at the Blue nile sailing club. It's in short a shit hole and not even worth mentioning anymore as option for travelers.
The National camping ground is a short distance out of town, but it is safe and clean. My stripped bike with tools and all our stuff at the tent has been lying in the open and nothing got lost the last week.

There is also a cheap internet hub on the premises with aircon and several computers.

The only irritation is when they swing a cat by the tail at 4.30 in the morning. :cool4:

Yes, the mosque 50 metres from your tent is hard work at 4:45am ;-)

I liked the place, but after 3 nights the lack of shade in 43 degree heat and the long distance into town mean't I moved to the Youth Hostel. Rooms are 35 SP a night (6 euros ) pp with air con, or you can camp for 10SP pp (1.4 Euros) They have the shady space for it, and it is in a quiet place in the centre of town (Khartoum 2).

Two people in a room there was cheaper than camping with no facilities at the Blue Nile. If the Blue Nile was free it would have some virtues.

For a treat make sure you go to the Ozone Cafe, lovely!

agree with you on the shade, we have a bit here but has to move around to get max shade out of the trees. We would also have moved to the hostel if it weren't for my bike that is in pieces and I am waiting for spares from SA.

I think to stay here for 2-3 days max is good but for longer stay such as with us now the choices are limited but the hostel must be a good option.

do you have coordinates for the Ozone cafe?
