ICMV for Morocco?

Hi,

Is an International Certificate for Motor Vehicles required for Morocco? I had a look on the RAC website and there was no mention of this document. Does it still exist?

Thanks.

All that was required when I was in Morocco a couple of years ago was my insurance greencard and V5 documents and driving licence. I had an IDP but was never asked for it and on the RAC site it seems you no longer need an IDP either.

I got one last year throught the RAC with my Carnet, and an IDP. For previous trips to Morocco I took standard UK license and V5, plus insurance doc. Never been asked for anything though.

an IDP and the International Certificate for Motor Vehicles aren't required, but if you get into bother they'll probably make things easier (because of the language), and you don't need to hand over your original UK docs.

Hi,
An ICMV is the best way not to get ripped off if you have to buy local insurance.
In Morocco, Mori and Senegal the insurance sales people were very flattering about the "puissance fiscale" of my 8CV, boosting the price and of course their commission.
Other than that it wasn't requested at police checkpoints (you're never stopped in Morocco nowadays)
