I have read that there is not a ferry like this AND: you can't get a libian visa in Egypy AND: you can't get a syrian visa in Egypt the only way to Europe would be: Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Turkey... something that I wouldn't personally do.
Or to look for a ferry from Israel to Europe (I don't know if there are).

Isn't there one Greece to italy? I read about it somewhere, I think it might have been on a website about the silk road route. this bypasses all that nasty balkans stuff as well. It leaves form northern italy, but beyond that I don't recall exactly where. do a search of silk road websites and you may find something.

Thank you very much for the info - you just confirmed our suspicions, as we did follow links on the web. One moment we found a link for ferries between Greece and Egypt then next moment there is no sign of the promissed ferries.

Ferries depart regularly to Patras or Igoumenitsa from either Venice , Ancona, Bari or Brindisi, don't know about winter schedules though, try looking on

Sorry, I'm kind of curious about what's so nasty about the balkans?I live on the Italy /slovene border and have ridden extensively around there these past two summers, finding cheap ,great people, and no more "nastiness" than I'd be likely to find back home in Glasgow...come to think of it probably much much less...
Just relax and drive through if you have time.

Ciao from rainy Italia..

Antonio.
