Green card in Ceuta?

Hi all,

I'm driving down to Morocco next week and plan to cross from Ceuta. I've been having problems getting a green card issued from my UK insurance company.

In case I can't get anything arranged in time, does anyone know if it is possible to buy a Green Card in Ceuta on a Saturday morning?

I've heard there can be problems.

Comments gratefully received!

Thanks,

Andy

Insurance for Morocco

Hi Andy,

We had the same situation in April. Normally we'd buy insurance at the border, but the office had been closed while building work at the port was to be carried out.

We tried getting insurance in Ceuta but no luck. In the end we got through the border with no insurance and were instructed to buy insurance as soon as possible. We ended up buying insurance in Meknes after drawing a blank in Fnideq.

Anybody got up to date information on the situation at the border?

Jojo
PS have since changed to more amenable UK insurers.

Thanks, very useful info, I think I'll keep trying to the bitter end in the UK, if I still have no green card by the time I leave I'll try to get one in Algeciras and if that fails go for the "buy at next town" option in Ceuta. I'm sure I'll get their somehow....

Many thanks for the help!

Andy.

I got in at Cueta (Sebta) a couple of years ago with the normal insurance docs. But it was a struggle, took 3 hours and required some French. I told Carol Nash (my insurers) but they havent come up with a green card solution yet.

Insurance companies arent really interested in helping here.

PS A Moroccan colleague says dont use Sebta, go via Tangiers.

Odd......there has been an insurance office and a Bureau De Change open at Cueta for the last month and a half to my certain knowledge- they're just outside the compound on the area that was used by Grand Taxis.

The next insurance office is in Fnideq, and there's supposed to be one in Tetouan as well but I've not tried to find that one myself.

I have been through twice in the last few weeks and the office you mention was "Closed" both times......

:frown:

I'm back down in a fortnight and will try and get some opening times......how reliable their published ones may be is another matter though ;)

There's also a Moroccan insurance agent in Algeciras, about 300 yards away from the port gates.

come out of the port by the gates by the multi storey car park, cross the dual carriageway passed the Acciona main offices and turn right past the ferry agent's shops...go past the Barclays bank and it's just up there on the left.

They don't open early enough for the first ferry but it may save some hassle if the Cueta portacabin office is unreliable :)
