GPS Hotel in Marrakesh?

Anyone have some easy to get to coordinates for cheap hotel (s) in Marrakesh? We don't mind the noise but do want to be in easy walking of the sights and a safe place to park the blue beast. I don't want to have to park and ask a dozen times before we find something. Some of you have "been there, done that" and all I have are these nearly useless tourist guides written primarily, I think, for rich people--eg--Hilton, Sheraton etc., and not one word about Dew drop Inn on slum street for 8 bucks a night.

Gracias,

Joe

Theres plenty on the HUBB but try Hotel CTM, which is on Jmaa el Fnaa, Marrakesh. Parking in secure area immediately next door. Hotel costs about 12 ish euros a night or 80 dirhams-with breakfast on the roof. Eat at Restaurant Toubkal opposite -try the tagines. Internet shops nearby. The show in Jmaa el Fnaa starts around sundown -enjoy.

Use a map; I have no coordinates;but you cant miss Jmaa el Fnaa.

hi

You can try this one also, Hotel Toulousain GPS N31° 38.15 O 8° 0.596. Don't remember the price but cheap, it's known by backpackers.
You can let the bike in the courtyards for free and it's safe.
Not so far you can find a bar where you can have beer.

Marrakech

Hotel Ali, Rue Moulay Ismail, south side of Jal ma Fna (main square, all the action) with secure parking was a very good option a few years ago. Good kitchen, indifferent plumbing, helpfull staff.

Thanks! kind of makes me gloat just a bit to have access to something as mundane as a hotel in a place most people will never get to. Those who don't know about HUBB are happy in their ignorance, but all of us handsome people (those who know HUBB) have to feel pity for them. "And the Lord smiled and saw that man had only two legs, so declared that the best conveyance would be something with only two wheels."

thank you for the good stuff

Hi J

If you have a moment, I'd like to hear a few words about your current trip - not many US citizens end up in Marrakesh by bike; it's more of a Eurobiker destination. Give us a sitrep on your hotel choice etc. I'll be back in hotel CTM at Xmas (last time Jan 2007). If youre in CTM , turn right and follow the alley through an arch: youll find three I/net shops starting at 100 metres, then further, then another about 8-900 metres away -the cheapest.

If you want a fine place to visit, go down to the Atlantic coast about 120 kms to Essaouira - a fine and wonderful town: you may hear some Gnauoa music. Eat sardines fresh from the sea. Use the Hotel des Remparts - cheap as chips and you park your bike inside the hotel. Its in the old quarter. You can buy Ali Farke Toure CD copies there cheap. As always when travelling, dont leave documents/valuables in the hotel room when youre out.

Hi Camanindo,

Well, the plan is to ride down through Mexico, CA, then down South America west coast and back up the east to Belem, take the ferry boat up to Manusa, then ship to Europe for about 6 months, getting to Morocco in January. Down the west coast, up the east to Mombasa ship to India, Kuala lumpur, to Oz, back to Korea, back to Oregon. take about 2 years, just wandering with no particular agenda except to see the animals in africa, the mountain gorilla.

Great trip - enjoy. I thought you were in Morocco at the moment. Get ready for European fuel prices.

Sorry Caminando, but we still have 52 days of working life left, and then another monthor so of getting ready. WE are looking forward to those cheap European gas prices. They don't know how lucky they are. We pay $1.75 USD a liter here and it goes up evryday. By the end of December it is predicted to hit $8.50 a gallon. Pretty close but not as high as what Europe expects.

Thanks for the coordinates Tim
