We used a Garmin e-Trex connected to a laptop, and this was perfect for keeping track where you are.

Another alternative is for those who live in London to go bargain hunting down Tottenham Court Road, once you've printed the prices of the above site. Some success is guaranteed.

Did you use electronic maps and if so which ones?

I can recommend Marine Electronics Ltd (www.mesltd.co.uk). They do mail order. I bought from them a Garmin GPS 128 for UKP 170 (the price has gone up recently, but Marine Installations Ltd - www.meiltd.co.uk still have it for UKP 172+VAT). ME also do the Garmin GPS-152 for UKP 299.95.

I think mapping software for GPS is only good
