Getting to Egypt - Carnets
 

Rather than pay a deposit for a carnet when leaving the UK to drive Turkey-Syria-Jordan-Egypt, has anyone any experience of proving with a bank document that the cash to cover the Carnet is in an account - ie you dont have to shell out the cash to the AA (whoever)

And supposing you need a carnet for longer than 12 months.... can you renew existing ones?

1. You can talk to your bank manager about a guarantee letter, he may or may not be sympathetic. Use a house (if you have a mortgage), guarantee against life assurance policy etc.

2. You can easily renew CDP, you just have to be stationary in a country long enough for the paperwork to go through...

AA or RAC can advise on this.
