Fitting Motorcycle Tyres in Rabat
 

Hello all. Myself and a mate are riding from London to Cape Town and back and we are heading off next week! I'm on an Africa Twin and he's riding a KTM 640 Adventure. We will head down through France, Spain and Morocco, stopping in Rabat to get Mali & Mauritainian visas. I will be carrying a new set of tyres (TKC80s) which I hope to get fitted in Rabat. Can anyone recommend a place to fit the new tyres in Rabat? Many thanks.

PS we intend to be in Rabat around the 22nd or 23rd December if anybody would like to meet up for a hookah...

sorry for asking.... but did you consider taking at least a set of tire leavers and cheapish air pump with some patches in case you may have a puncture on the way?

well that's pretty much of all you will need any way... so my conclusion... if you are able to fix a puncture... you will be able to change a tire too :thumbup1: any where you are.

part of that... I can highly recommend filling the tubes with "slime"... at least that will help to reduce the amount of patches you may have to carry...

No worries Spooky. We envisage getting a puncture or two on the way and yes we'll have tyre levers and could do it ourselves but wouldn't it be easier to find a workshop and do it / have it done in Rabat? I'm all for getting stuck in when required but if there is a slightly easier, fewer skinned knuckes, less time consuming way, why not?!!

Not a big fan of Slime myself (messy goo) but each to their own I guess. C'est la vie..

you could alway's fit a set of Tourance tyre's they should last you 9000 mile's...the TKC's will only do between 3,500 and 4,500.

You should be readt to fit the tyre's yourself, that way when you do get a flat,changing the tube won't be a problem.

Are you heading off onto dirt right out of Rabat? If not I would run the present tires as low as possible before changing. In other words don't run the TKCs on pavement if you don't have to ... try to save the knobbies until you need really need them.

IMHO, as with all bike work in foreign countries you're best off doing it yourself, if you can, rather than trusting someone else not to screw it up...
