Festival of the Desert

I am interested in going overland from UK to Festival of the Desert, music festival in Mali, for Jan 2006. I have a fully kitted out vehicle and am looking others going in the same direction.

Hi

My plans very vague. I finish work at end of July but probably heading off a month or so later; flexible about route and timescales. I plan to travel around after the festival heading very vaguely in the direction of India and China, maybe via Yemen.

I would like to link up with others for atleast part of the way.

Do you have more definate plans?

I have lang range tank, water system, winch roof tent and all the usual stuff people get but no experience in the desert.

I was planning to avoid anything too extreme in terms of routes hoping to avoid trashing the vehicle at the start of what might be a few years driving around.

Hi Tony

We may be a little late for you then unless you want to meet in Tunisia in November

Our plan (thats a very fancy name for a scribble on a mat) is a loop through north africa taking in the festival

We have 2 heavily modded 101's so we don't want to trash vehicles either but both drivers have desert experience (The other driver in Mercedes trucks over 6 years) and 2 well prepared camper vehicles

Hi Rich

Sounds like quite a convoy you are getting together.

I am Interested in a Tunisia or a Southern Europe link up in Nov because I want to travel slowly through Spain before getting to Africa.

I will send you an e-mail.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
