festival du desert, essakane mali

we planning on driving from dakar to essakane (two hours outside of timbuktu) for the festival du desert (january 7-9). any tips, comments or anyone else who wants to caravan, let me know!

Hi,
I'm very interested in this festival and would dearly love to attend.
However, I fear that I have left it too late for this next one!
Just so that I can start panning early enough for next year, could those of you who are going, give some more details. I have checked out the festival site:
http://www.festival-au-desert.org, and am aware of the entry price, jabs required etc, but what bikes are you guys riding, what route are you taking, how long are you planning for the whole trip, etc, etc.

I'd like to go in Jan 2006. I'll be starting off from UK in 4x4 in Autumn 2005, going through Morrocco.

I'd be interseted to hear from anyone who has been before or who is planning to go.

We are planning a trip with 2 diesel converted Landrover 101's, leaving this coming November to be there for Jan 2006

So keep in touch, we're interested in trying to do a loop so approaching thru Algeria and returning thru Morocco
