Ferries to Tunisia

OK I know who the ferry companies are - but who do you contact to book them?

I've spoken to a London-based agent (Southern Ferries) whose number is on the SNCM site, but they weren't exactly helpful - and the fare they quoted was pretty steep! (nearly GBP700 for Marseilles - Tunis, GBP550 Genoa - Tunis).

What have people used in the past?

Cheers

Ollie

Try
http://www1.grimaldi.it/ or http://www.sncm.fr/fr/index.php

I used both of them two times to go to Tunisia with my motorbike.

The (SNCM) prices quoted are normal - thats why most go via Genoa but if your going soon it may be full already.

I booked the Genoa - Tunis ferry going on 2 Nov about 6 weeks ago. For a Landcruiser and two in private cabin we paid something like EUR 630.
I booked on line at www.sncm.fr and got the tickets sent to my home address in the Netherlands. This contrary to the advice given to me by one of the SNCM's telephone operators who told me that just a booking reference should do.

Happy sailings,
Camiel

Thanks all - after unhelpful service from Southern Ferries I booked via the SNCM agent in Brussels - no probs. Would recommend them.

I bet I know who you talked to at S Ferries, I've been going there for over 20 years and have watched her grow grey like me... Never a smile or a pleasant word to be had...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
