Just a quick question, does anyone know if you can get a ferry to the Canerrie islands = mainly Lanzarotie from either Morocco or Western Sahara.
If So which port. And can they take a truck? Has anyone done it? Casablanca or Rabat

Apparently not: http://www.triotours.com/faq/ma/from-canary-islands.htm

I tried in Casablanca in 1990 and nobody in the port knew anything about the ferry that was shown on my German map.

I checked just a month ago and found only a freight route that didn't take passengers. I also found out that ferries from Lanzarote to Spain would cost more than a charter flight from Denmark, including my bicycle.

I suspect it needs to go in a container.

from bike dropoff to pickup in palma, about a week.

Hi Karim
Thanks for the reply,
It wont fit in a container (to Big) so i will have to ask about when I'm there.
At least i know that its sort of possible.

But it will fit onto a flat rack. If you can get it onto a 20 ft flat rack you're in for about 500 euros loading only (1000 in Cape Town) and then it has to be top of the stack on a container ship (reserved place = more expensive). If it's over 2.5 m wide you simply pay for the container they can't put next to yours.
A 40 ft flat rack is just silly money, my camper is 3cm too long for some 20 ft flat racks and you only find out if it fits at the port; all a bit uncertain for my liking.
I think Navitrans run RoRos from southern France to West Africa/Canaries, they're not good at answering e-mails and I never managed to get a contact name.
Good luck
Luke

Hi Luke.
Thanks for info.
Its a bit longer that 20ft
24ft (
will try Navitrans and see if i have any luck there, it was only a thought when i come back from Going south to go via Canaries and back to uk rather than back through North Sahara.
Might have to revise plan.
