Europe - Sudan without entering Egypt??
Is it possible to go overland by 4x4 from Libya to Sudan without crossing Egypt? Or by boat from Jordan to Port Sudan?

Dodging the Carnet.....???

All my research into your question led no where. The hasstle factor was off the scale. I didn't want to pay the carnet costs for the privilage of Egypt - which I've been to before but am forced to go there enroute to Sudan..... Plus there's the Ferry at Wadi Haifa - more €€€€€ - with the greatest of respect to Egyptians - they know how to turn a few shillings from you. I'd be interested to know if you find a way to do it... We met a couple in Ethiopia who Drove to Saudi Arabia from Germany then got a ferry across to Sudan to avoid Egypt on their way south.

Ferry costs?
Hi StevenD, I'm interested in in the ferry costs, timetable etc. from the route you are taking. Can you let us know?

Last info I have here is that the ferry Iran-UAE is no longer running. No problem for bikes, as there is still the passenger ferry, but cars would have to be shipped. Search for recent posts by trui-gaea.
Mind you, the Iranians in Bandar Abbas made the ferry almost as much hassle as shipping...
