Ethiopian Embassy Cairo

1 Attachment(s)
Attachment 3941From our experience, and that of everyone else we've met, said embassy is a little tricky to find, and its not at the address listed in guide books, so here's the right address, a google map and an attached GPX with its location.

21 Mohammed El Ghazali St
Off of Mossadak St
Dokki
Cairo

EDIT - GPX and google map now has British & Sudanese embassies as well.

Thanks for the information, I was thinking there wasn't an embassy for Ethiopia in Cairo.. ! Oh, well. I'll find this tomorrow! Cheers. James

Hey James,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but tomorrow is a major holiday in Egypt and the embassy will be closed, you cannot apply for the visa until you have your Sudanese one anyway. Once you have that get there for 9 am and you might get it the same day, if not the next. Bear in mind that the Arabic weeekend is Friday/Saturday not Sat/Sun as back home. I'll cost you 30 US$.

Hi all, yes the Ethiopian Embassy is closed today (6th October 2010) but it was useful to go and find it anyway. It certainly exists and is easy to get to from the Dokki metro station.

As for the Sudan Embassy, it is in Garden city, Chris your address is correct, again, easy to find, just behind a petrol station.

I'll be at that Embassy first thing in the morning with my rubbish letter I had to get from the Brittish embassy (what a con!) and a couple of passport photos at the ready...

Any questions about the process just ask, cheers.

kimandmatt 7 Oct 2010 17:51

OK, I've updated the gpx and google map to include British and Sudanese embassies - should have done it in the first place really!

Matt

Chris Scott 7 Oct 2010 17:59

Any questions about the process just ask, cheers.

Yes, please let us know for Sud and Eth:
How much $
How long if not same day
What docs needed other than usuals (LoI for Brits for Sudan?)
How many ppt photos

Will be handy to have it all in one place to save people digging about.

Thanks Cota for gps and Matt for gpx

Chris you seem to have missed that excellent file from Ulrich
attached again here-
More embassies than you could visit in a month!
If you are going to use it as a custom poi file- there is more work to be done in excel.

Bertrand - thx for posting the embassy file - very handy.

I did notice that the location of the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo may be out of date in that file

The correct one looks like (Al-Ibrahmi Street, Garden City) at

30.039518 N 31.234174 E

Cheers

OK, in the interest of up to date information.

The Process for Applying for a Sudan Visa in Cairo. For Brits anyway..
8th October 2010.

For Brits at least you need a LOI from the British Embassy just round the corner. It costs 275 Egyption Pounds (30quid ish) and takes about an hour.

Then, with the LOI and 2 passport photos head for the Sudan Embassy.

Fill in the Application form they give you. One of the questions is your Blood Group.

Then, get a photocopy of the Application form, your LOI, your passport photo page and a photocopy of your Egypt Visa from the chap in the corner with the photocopier. (This cost me 2 Egypt Pounds - 22pence ish)

Then head for the counter, they will take everything, stamp your paperwork and keep it. They'll give you your passport back and say come back in a week for your Visa.

No mention of money on Application day. I'll see what happens on Thursday when I go back! (A chap did say it was 100us dollars)

The Egyption Embassy definitely do not issue a visa until you have a Sudan one. I'm going to get mine in Khartoum.

Just to let all interested know about the Ethiopian embassy in Cairo...

It really is so simple to get a visa there!

1. Once you have a Sudan visa just take 1 passport photo and 30 US dollars in the morning..(it is open 9am - 2pm)

2. Fill in a very simple form - just info that is on your passport.

3. Come back the following day to collect!

Easy.
