entry to Marocco woth a friends car

Hi Has anyone experience of taking a 4x4 they don`t own into Marocco?

All the best,

You need the vehicle registration forms (V5 in the UK) and a letter of authority from the owner.

Thanks Tim,

Sounds simple. Have you ever done this? Is there a suggested form of words for the letter of authority?

I'd like to get things sorted out well in advance.

Ceuta customs can occasionally be awkward about 3rd party owned vehicles. Make your friend's letter as official-looking as possible, translate it into French and take a duplicate. Keep it simple, OTOH something like:

I_____the registered owner of______give full authorisation for ______ to temporarily import _____into________between the dates of____

You get the idea. Add respectful cordialities and include dates of travel, full names, addresses, registration, chassi number, type/colour, marque, passport nos. etc.

For a single vehicle that you are driving that should work fine.

I suspect you just officially import and insure 2 vehicles and both get stamped in your passport. As long as you own both and have the V5s no probs. They must get van+bike quite often at the border.

btw, if you're going past Bikershome in Ouarzazate he wants a small fridge brought down from the UK. See:http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/sahara-travel-forum/transport-nl-uk-marrakech-ouarzazate-35648

A closed van used to be not allowed into Morocco, as it is supposed to be a lorry. But things might have changed.
