Entering Mauretania via Bir Mogrein
 

We are planning a trip to Mauretania and farther south.
Is it possible to take the road from Laayoune southeast to Galtat Zemmour and leave Marocco and enter Mauretania to Bir Mogrein.
Are there customs facilities on either side?

In some books the route in the opposite direction (S to N) is mentioned as possible.

We hope then to travel south to Zouerat, Atar, Chinguetti, Tidjika.

Has anybody done this recently (last 3 months)?
