Thanks for the good news Luciano. Perhaps the idea of unescorted travel will spread eastwards...

Chris must be referring to China! ;-)

This really is good news! Although it was always a challenge just how much you could dodge the convoys! ;-) I wonder if this decision would also have an impact on access to the Gilf?

East.. West.. what's the big deal.

It's not like you ever do remote desert crossings where it really matters, now do you?

ouch!

Unhappy Egypt Permissions Western Desert

hi - for the Western Desert it looks not so good. There are plans to declare the Gilf also as a National Park with all the consequences :-( as in the Wihte Desert since november 2008

Exclamation sounds too good to be true...

Take the information with a pinch of salt for the time being until verified (already there is a user comment on the Times Online article contradicting the report). This may only apply to the Hurghada - Luxor route, may only apply to tour buses not private vehicles, or may simply not be true.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
