east and west on gps...

Simple question but I assume that I have to use a - sign when inputting longitude data from a computer to make sure i get to the west of 0 degrees...? otherwise I assume the gps will assume that it is to the east of the meridian.?
Thanks

Also in gps forum but this one is seen first...

Hi,

At least if you Ozyexplorer for managing your waypoints you should add - to locations west of 0 degrees. For other softwares I do not know.

Cheers,
José
