driving conditions in atlas mountains in jan/feb

Can anybody tell me about driving conditions in middle and high atlas in wintertime (january / february) for the secondairy roads and pistes?
for example: Should i prepare for snow in the todra gorge or south of khenifra? Are there special winter circumstances which i should know before going into these mountains by 4x4?

Thanks already

Hallo,

I did the todra twice in wintertime; first time we didn't make it. (to much snow), second time was no problem.(not any snow)

So you have to be lucky.

On the subject of snow, we're off to Morocco for three weeks from next Friday. Hoping it'll be a bit early for snow in the high atlas -- anyone have any experience of Morocco's weather in November they could share? Would've gone earlier but I have an exam on 21st Otober...

thanks!

Moroccon snowfall is largely controlled by the phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation - a climate thing that determines whether the storm track heads through the Med (=snow in Moroc) or over NW Europe. Its done the latter pretty much throughout the last couple of decades. Google NAO and you'll be overwhelmed with stuff.
