Continental TKC80's in Morocco?

Does anyone know if I can get these for a my BMW GS Adventure?

Darkenbad 31 Oct 2003 03:56

Hi, Iv'e seen TKC80's fitted to a GS. I used
them on my Africa Twin, on a trip to Maroc last year. They performed extremely well, fit heavy duty inner tubes as well, and your pretty much bullet proof.

Have a nice one.

Thanks for the encouragement.

No you can't, but one set should last from UK to Morocco and back.

Thanks, good tom know. The trip's a bit more serious than that - following the Atlantic down to Cape Town and back up the other side.

So it's back to my original question: Does anyone know if I buy them in Southern Spain?

Hi, if you are going on a long trip like this, have at the beginning a tire with you and change it, if the old one is gone. For black afrika you can be lucky if you will find a new one in the size you need! Many young europaens are driving motobikes, asked them where you can find one. Maybe they sell you one out of their stock. Or go to motobike garages, promise them a good tip if they will find one for you and leave the address of the place where you are staying. Or just ask the hotel-boy. That`s how africans find their special needed parts. A good tip is a good raison to look around. You will get a tons of problems all the way. Most of your informations you will get from africans. Specially up from Gabun down to Namibia you won`t find other tourists. Sorry for my english, I´m German. Good luck! I did a similar trip 14 years ago, in spite of many problems i got a wonderful time.

Why don't you email Continental and ask them? I did it last year when I was going to turkey and they responded within a couple of days.

Good luck!

Hello,

What i did recently is ride down from Amsterdam to Togo on one set of TKC80's and had them replaced by new ones (not TKC80, something bridgestone) in Togo at the KTM dealer they got there.

But keep in mind that they are only well stocked with 18" and 21", forget about 17"....

The rear was pretty bold but still made it..

Thanks, guys! You've all been a great help :-)

I'm now thinking that I'll take a spare rear with me.

Or get them posted to you, perhaps at a hotel in some reasonably civilised country. (This is what I thought I would do.) If you're starting from UK with a new set, you might not need more until...Dakar?

Rickx

we're in Tarifa (southern Spain) right now 03/11/2003 and you can pretty much forget getting TKC80's even here let alone North Africa. After a lot of searching we've just ordered a 4 tyres (two bikes) from Motorworks in the UK. The Continental importer in Spain never answers the phone and other tyre guys just don'tstock them.

My wife's just ridden from Nordkapp to Southern Spain via Russia etc on TKC80,s. There's still life in them...great tyre!!!

Cheers
Simon T
