Companions and info sought for Algeria-Mali or Niger in jan 2008

Hello.

Am planning to go Algeria-Mali or Niger in jan 2008 in my own car and I am looking for travel partners. If anyone is driving either Route before me PLEASE send me your e-mail adress so that I can get up to date info. I have been stuck before in both Libya and Jordan due to suddenly closed borders and dont want to repeat it.

/Marcus

Thanks gregor

I got similar info. I just tried to write you but I apparantly dont have enough postings to do so, so if you read this PLEASE send me an e-mail to markus_carlsson AT hotmail dot com. If you do decide to go before me it would be GREAT if I could ask you some questions.

From Algeria route Niger or Mali

I’m in the final stage of preparation for the same route Dec07/Jan08, Tunisia –Algeria – Niger or Mali – Nigeria. I’ve even bought air tickets for my wife and kid to meet us up in Nigeria.

So far information I’m getting online is neither boarder (Niger or Mali) is confirmed closed, Our initial plan was via Niger, online information has it that one would have to join a military convoy in the northern part of Niger but I’ve got no confirmation if they'll let foreigners join the convoy, our Algeria tour guide said that at the moment Mali is less dangerous, so we are going via Mali and entering Niger from the south. Our final destination is Nigeria.

I'm also looking at doing this route in mid December 2008 in a vehicle heading towards Guinea; not sure whether to go south via Libya or Algeria.

PM/E-mail me would be great to have companions on this trip

Hi, Kira.

I am sitting down in guinea-bissau with my F650 GS Dakar (Tank's modded to 39ltrs) hopefully going to the Timbuctuo Music Festival, via Conekry. Which way are going to Guinea, And i would be really interested in your northern Mali Experiences.
