Question Claiming VAT back in Algericas

Does anyone know where to claim the VAT back in Algericas, Spain? Last time we were in Cueta (2000), we weren't able to claim any VAT back, even though Cueta is a Spanish enclave.

Best Regards,
Dennis

Hi Dennis
I'm not sure what you're claiming VAT back on and whether or not you're going to return to the UK, but I can tell you what I did when exporting my Land Rover from Europe. Once on African soil (crossed from Algeciras to Ceuta) I completed the 'export' section of the car reg papers and sent that, along with copies of ferry tickets as proof of exit, back to the guys who sold me the vehicle. They processed the VAT claim and deposited it in my account.
Hope this helps
Bel

hi !!!

Well , Ceuta and Melilla got a tax-exempt status , -same as Canary Islands- (same I think as your Gibraltar or your Falkland Islands ) , so Its got a funny tax system . -if you look the prices , there is not tax nor Vat on Fuel , and most prices are Vat-Free.

***************VAT RETURN OFFICES IN SOUTH SPAIN->AFRICA

Algeciras: BBVA Bank in Virgen del Carmen street , 17, just front of the Harbour

Algeciras Harbour TErminal : at GADITOUR desk , at the Passenger terminal , in Arrivals

Ceuta: BBVA - Pza. De Revellin, 5 (Revellin Square , 5)
Melilla: BBVA - Av. Ejercito Español, 16 ("Ejercito Español" Avenue 16 )

BBVA is a bank like your HSBC . ITs logo is Blue with a BBVA letters. You can not miss it !!!

Good Luck!.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
