Chris' M4 and M5 routes in Morocco

Hello all,

I'm a week away from heading to Morocco and have been looking to include Chris' M4 and M5 routes (we're already doing most of the others and figured we should probably try include the gorges).

Do these routes actually go through Dades and Todra or just near them? If simply near them does anyone know how to modify them to include the gorges themselves? we're in a 4x4 so would prefer to go offroad if pistes exist rather than just using the roads.

Thank you kindly.

The two routes are south of the gorges. You can just use a map to visit the gorges.

About two thirds of M4 (running Alnif to near Tinerhir) is now tarmac.

M5 runs south from Tinerhir through the Jebel Sahro (dry mountains) and is a good trip.

Thanks Tim,

Do you know of any other of Chris' routes that have been paved over?

Scott,

The M5 is a good run in a 4x4 :thumbup1: We spent 1 day going up the Todra and stayed at Imilchil whilst the next was spent decending the Dades, The following day taking the M5 route and staying at Tazzarine.

After that you can take a piste to Zagora. Thats 4 full days on the piste with little tarmac. We followed that up with the piste from Zagora to Foum Zguid... Highly recommended if your heading that way.
