Chad entry
I was thinking about organising a visa for Chad here in London before setting off for Africa. One visa agency would be happy to charge me £161.00 for this service. Another agency told me I can get it at the border when leaving Niger.
I have a New Zealand passport, could someone who has experience with crossing this border help to clear this up please? Jeff

I contacted the Tchad embassy in Brussels a few weeks ago, and it seems that -according to the official- there is no problem in getting the visa in Belgium. The price for the visum was around 50 dollars. I have to apply for it in 3 weeks time. I will let you know how easy or difficult it really is in the end.

We came from Niger to Chad about 5 months ago. We got our Chad visa in Niamey within about 4 hours and I think it cost about £25. One of our group is a Kiwi. Very straight forward. not sure if you can get it on the border. However the chad officials in that area weren't exactly efficient / proffesional / ?? so I'm glad we didn't have to try and get visas out of them. If you can get it before then far easier. Also watch out for villages round lake chad, we got robbed and stoned in Masakory by most of the village (approx 100 people). Apparently the place has a reputation for it and the policeman present was part of it.

Thanks guys, think I`ll call in to Brussels, should help to kill some time plus hope to avoid Niamey. When you say robbed Tobias is this like at gunpoint or just mischievious kids or what?
As for getting stoned I`m planning to stay off drugs on the way through. ha Jeff
