Does anyone know if there is an official bmw bike garage in Maroc? especially around Tangier, Rabat or Casa? If not, someone that knows there way around modern BMs ie 800GS?? many thanks.

I hear there is one in Casa for sure but I don't know where exactly. Hope it's nothing too serious.

Mmmmmm again I heard a rumor of a BMW mechanic as well when my fellas 1200GS broke down ....... never found tham though.

In Ouazazate there is a french guy called Gill who in his fitter days was support driver for bikes in the Dakar, he rides a BMW 1150 and knows the BMWs inside out. Unfortunatley I do not have his number anymore but he is close friends with the manager of the Atlas Studios Hotel in Ouazazate.

for the replys guys and girls... have found a guy in Tangier to work on it tomorrow, if no good will head down to Casa to the dealer detailed, many thanks.

If anyone has any thoughts on sparks from exhaust, burning smell oil/petrol and it seems to be getting hot quick, would be appreciated.

Sounds like a problem in the injection-system. To be sure check the valves clearance, too.CheersRick

Quick update... ended taking it to Smeia BMW in Casablanca. Arrived in Casa late Saturday afternoon and all was closed at the garage so chilled out over the weekend but arrived at their door not booked in at 7.45am on the Monday morning... I was back at my hotel with a fixed bike at 10.30 am.

The service side itself was pretty much spot on and the tech staff spoke good english.... if it hadn't taken 45 mins to prepare the bill, 160Dhms (13/14quid!), i would have been even more impressed, but overall, definitely no complaints.

I'm headed the other way, in Bamako right now and trying to go to the UK. I need to get my front brakes looked at, and was thinking of either Casa or Algeciras.

I have no GPS, do you have a street location for the Casa shop?

Hi Doug, thats a shame, i only left Bamako yesterday but now crossed into Burkina Faso.

Regarding the BMW garage in Casa, i didnt have a GPS either, or actually even a steet name, however, if you ask in any of the small bike garages you see so many of in Casa, i am sure they will point you in the right direction. In my case, a guy on a moped who couldnt speak english just got me to follow him, and he took me there. As i remember, it is just a couple of ks north of the town centre area.

Also, it is a real proper bona fide BMW garage, they really do know what they are doing there.

ha ha. yeah give me cable operated brakes over this new-fangled liquid braking trickery. it's the devils work. and people claim BMW's are based on old reliable technology, I guess everything's relative ;-)

No, that one wasn't me,, must be like Piccadilly Circus for BM's in Bamako at the mo! I am a bright 'bumble bee orange' type 800GS... chilling out in Quaga.

When they do decide to give you your Mauri visa Doug be aware when i came through from Nouakchott to Kiffa and Ayoun it was murder getting fuel, plenty of Gazoil but no Essence at the garages. Was having to really ask around at all the major towns, and do not speak a word of french, and then having to pay over the odds for it as they seem to want to keep what they have for locals... or 'rich' travelers who have no choice!
