Bamako Maroc route

What is the fastest/recommended route from Bamako, Mali trough Mauritania, to Morocco?
We leave Bamako at 02 feb 2009 and have to be in Morocco in 5 days

I find a nice route, trough Kiffa, Aleg, Nouakchott, Dakla... but i have a question: in Mauritania, how is the road condition between Magta Lahjar and Passe de Djouk?
Thank you guys!

Hi,

I've just come back from that stretch a month ago, end of rainy season.
The stretch mentioned was very doable then. On some occasions we had to drive trough the fields, because of a fludded road. Other than that, just a lot of animals on the road and some holes. Don't expect to get a great average distance/time.

If asked at checkpoints where you are going, look for people (police officers or army) sitting around. They are probably waiting for a ride. If you are by car, and don't want grumpy people in the back. Tell them you are taking it easy, and probably stop overnight for a couple of days somewhere.

Check my video on youtube for an impression
