Atlas road conditions in Dec/Jan
 

Hi All,

I'm planning a brief trip to Morocco during the Christmas/New Year period and would like to get an idea of the road/weather conditions through the middle and high Atlas.

I'll be driving a 4x4 down past Fes and then on down to midelt, Rachidia and Erfoud.

Does anyone know if the main route through the mountains be passable without snow chains during this period?

Hi,
the road in the atlas mountains during this time usually good although it is closed by the snow sometimes mainly at night.But as you come from Fez,you will take the road of boulmane till you arrive to zaida ,then medilt ,errachidia then erfoud.Any if the roads are stopped by the snow, people are informed in advance.Keep looking at the forums, and will post the situation of the roads during that time,or we can exchange emails to keep each other so that to be well informed about the roads.
