atar to tidjika approx fuel cost?

Ok, so you've fuelled-up in Atar, and you head off to Tidjikja. How long is it going to take you, and what's your likely fuel cost per vehicle for the journey? Just any old rough figure is all I'm looking for. Thanks.

Hi

How long? Depends on the track, Est or west, the way you drive, and the car.

In January 2005: 0.47 Euros/liter

Hi,

We did it last week according the waypoints of Chris Scott new edition of Sahara Overland [they contain a misprint!!, the 13 should be 12] and it was 360 km. First day 1 hour of sand, rest stony. Second day morning stones, afternoon sand. Third day only sand. The price is about 50 cent for Diesel. With this you should be able to work out the cost. We did it alone by the way, but you need GPS. The walking dunes erase the tracks frequently.

Cheers,

Noel

One question: where did you go from Tidjikja? Did you go further until Nema alone?

tnx, Gerd

Thanks Hubbees, unfortunately you've called my bluff.
I'm not a 4Wdriver, I'm a hitch-hiker, who will be turning up in Tidjikja and hoping (slim I know) to get a lift with a 4wd party heading north, or if the worst comes to the worst , to bribe some local transport to get me there. So I want to know what the typical costs are so that I can calculate my proper contribution.

How much would you want, if you gave me a lift?

I see that 3 days seems to be the norm. Does anybody do it northbound at all? (coming from Mali perhaps?) Did anybody see any northbound traffic (tourist or local) along the route?

How long do you guess I'll be stuck in Atar?
[correct answer will win a special prize - if I return ;-) ]

From Tidjikja we went to Mali. Wanted to do the Tidjikja Nema stretch but that is realy not wise to do it alone. It is not frequently travelled. Because we could not find other cars to come along with, we decided to go to Bamako. To bad.

Cheers,

Noel
