Sounds a bit fast to me, esp the first bit (we did Nema-Tidj in 5 days wioth a guide). I would add a day or two.

Nomiskx,

I'm going by car but in the group we will have bikes.

Chris,

Thanks for your opinion. We are going to do it without a guide... and we are trying to know if it is very difficult to do in that time.

Regards,

Hello
At this time i think you already do the piste between Atar and Nema. We are planning to do the same piste and if possible, i would like to know some informations.
.In this route, we need to avoid mines (of war) or it´s a clean route with good pistes?
.How many days we need to do this route with 4 land rovers 110?
.Where can we buy diesel in this route?

Thankyou very mutch for your help
Carlos

Hi there:
• No mines on this route that I've ever heard of (possibly some around Guelb)
• IMO, at least a week (Sahara II says 4 days + eight days on Routes R10 and R11)
• Fuel at each end and Tidjikja (800km range)

Hi,

>Sahara II says 4 days + eight days on Routes R10 and R11

These estimated times included half-day stops to visit the ancient cities of Tichit and Oualata, and also stops in the several rock formations along the way.
If you don't stop then I would say that you could do it in half the time.
But you'll be driving most of the day......

Cheers,
José

Hi,
We did that trip last year, in january, we were 3 cars for the first part and two for the last one. In a few words :
1 - Atar - Tidjikja...... in two days.
We had 2 major difficulties. The first was to find the beginning of the track ?! and the second one was an erg to cross just before the Zarga pass. Climbing the famous dune of Taoujafet was hard but mostly because of all the vehicules of Paris-Dakar that had passed here the day before us.
2 - Tidjikja - Nema ... in 4 days
Wonderfull trip above all around Tichit. The sand was quite soft. The city od Tichit is magic with its sands of different colors and the caravan of camels. The track between Tichit and Oualata was often soft sand with camel grass, very painful. Sometimes our average speed was 10 km/h maximum ! The 2 most difficult parts are a specific zone of "akles" just after the rock of Es Sba and the Enji pass.

Take a lot of water and fuel for the part between Tidjikja and Nema, we had a very important consumption !

If you want more details, you can read my carnet on my website : www.kapsud.net if you understand french of course ! or you can ask me and i will try to remember other details.

Have a good day
Nadine.

Hi,

We return from Mauritania & Mali...))

Atar / Tidjikja in 3 days...
Left Atar at 11:30 and arrived Tidjikja at 18:00.
You can find fuel in Tidjikja but you will need an authorization from the local governament but you can buy it in the black market if you need. In our case we needed 650 Lt of gasoil for 6 cars... ask the authorization for more than you need...

Tidjikja / Nema in 5 days...

(Tidjikja / Tichit in 2 days)
We left Tidjikja at 15:00 and we arrived Tichit at 17:00
You can find Gasoil (tichit) in the black market
(Tichit / Nema in 3 days)
We left Tichit at 10:30 and arrived Nema at 19:00... with some hours (3) to visit Oualata.

If you need more information let me know.

Cheers,

Two easy days to Tidjikja and next three to Nema with 110 TD5 in february.Start at 8 am and drive next 10 hours. Enoying camel grass on some parts, but otherwise no problems at all. You don't need a guide if you have precise way points on GPS. Normal gas station in Tidjikja. Take aditional 80litres of diesel. You need no autorisation. It's a real an fantastic desert. Have a nice trip.
