Aswan to Wadi Halfa Ferry on 24th Dec

If anyone may be planning the same thing, we plan to take the aswan-wadi halfa ferry on the 24th/25th of December with a 4x4, and would naturally be delighted to split the costs of the barge!

Hi Jochen,

I haven't seen Martin recently but they are somewhere here in Ethiopia. Might run into them in the next little bit.

They did catch the ferry on the 24th along with about 7 other 4X4s and 4 bikes. I believe that there was a big back log of vehicles for that weeks sailing as the vehicle ferry the week before did not sail as it would have arrived during the holiday and there would be no one to unload it. The passenger ferry ran and we were on that one with our bikes. It arrived the day before the holiday began as it only takes one day, not two as the vehicle ferry.

From what a couple of Kiwis in a 4x4 mentioned, the vehicle barge was a bigger than normal one that they arranged to haul all the vehicles. I have not heard anything about operating problems but can ask if they know anything the next time I see them.

Another thing, our friend in Aswan indicated that the prices were going to increase in the new year, although I don't know by how much.
