'Top Gear' in Mauritania

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dowVr7B1Kc&t=10s

2hrs long, not watched it all but noted a faked-up 'minefield' exiting the Choum Tunnel - to be expected.

However satnav appears to show Cheshire...

Some interesting geography, the Tunnel is NE when they were heading SW, then after 3 days driving they went to the Eye of Africa that's East of Choum.

Still all the normal antics and entertaining but cant see their methods for dealing with wash board catching on.

Never seen Grand Tour, but watched this one on a train.
Isn't it the last of GT and this the penultimate episode?

Satnav anomaly is explained early on and all in all, I thought they did a good job ticking off the easily accessible desert highlights in RIM: train (that drone shot went on and on and on); Choum tunnel; Ebnou Pass, Ching corrugations and library even. Faked Guelb zoom out was nicely done as the centre may as well be anywhere (+ the cars wouldn't have got close).

Riots in Dakar last May did happen so if, as someone said, it took 90 vehicles (or people?) to keep GT on the road, you can see why they wrapped it up on the beach.
They were escorted to Dakar airport by a hands-free moto cop (end of vid below).

Did you spot that the cars arrived on a loaded train from Zourate, rather than an empty train coming in from the coast?

I think theres one more Africa special to wrap up the Grand Tour

Yes I did but I presumed loaded train was a better shot.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
