Hi All,
Are we able to leave from Oran without a guide and pick one up further south?
Anyone know another agency beside Tanezrouft as they aren´t responding?

Technically yes but a year ago at Algiers port they asked immediately where was our escort (he was outside). We were the only non-Algies on the boat.

Never tried Oran but may well be the same deal - ie: surprise and concern at seeing foreigners in a conspicuous foreign car.

If you have docs proving you are meeting your escort at Ghardaia or smth on a certain date it may help but this year's bombs would not help.

Best to pay up for a couple extra days of escort.

I used Akar-Akar...and they were good, professional and inexepensive...helped with acquiring Algerian visa...
