Algeria > Niger > Nigeria

I want to go from Algeria to Niger to Nigeria.

Who nows a good guide for the part in Algeria?

Who did it before and is willing to help me?

Are there people who want to travel with me?

I want to start in November 2012, and drive to South Africa in one year time. Maybe longer, I'm not in a hurry.

At this moment I'm traveling independent trough the North of Algeria. My Visa will expire at 4 October, then I'm out at Oran, and take an ferry to Alicante. I will go back to Montpellier and start to fix small things and go to the Consulates of the new Visas.

Bye,

Guus

Hello,

what about your trip in algeria ?
Which region you have visited ?

Today it is two years since the French were abducted in Arlit, still held hostage somewheres in Mali.
If you can get a visa to Niger arranged beforehand you may be ok. There are plenty guides in Tamanrasset looking for work. Tough part is Tam to Arlit, or rather Niger border to Arlit. Not much info available now on convoys, military escort and security issues now since nobody is going that way.

So check it out and give us a report!

Seeing as it's the first time in ages, it might not be a bad idea to organise a local escort from Assamakka to Arlit too (200km piste).

I can give a couple of contacts in Agadez. I have had faintly optimistic communications from Agadez recently.

The key is getting the Niger visa and whether this region is still off-limits to tourists (and if the checkpoints/borders act on this fact). It is possible even that Alg may not allow you to leave Tam for IGZ, even with the escort...

I change my plan

Thanks everyone.

I decided not to do Africa against the clock.

Now I start to investigate Africa with the clock.

Bye

Good luck Zebra. Africa with no clock at all is probably the best approach....

No clock

I'm traveled in Tunisia and are now in Algeria.

No Clock, yes, I think they don't have those things here;-)

Thanks Richard

How did things go for you after Algeria? Did you manage to head south into Niger then Nigeria? What was the security situation like? I am thinking of trying something like this in July, but it's all very security dependent!
