Akakus permits/guides
 

Hi guys

I've been given contrasting costs for hiring a guide as the akakus is a national park (anywhere between 50US$ to 150US$)as one-off, or between 30 and 60 US$ per daily rate for 2003 - anyone out there who can give me a simple answer, of the AVERAGE cost of the permits/guide visiting the national park (daily fee or one-off) for 2003?

Grant or Susan? any ideas?

In 2000 we visited the akakus but entered from the top (al-awainat - please excuse spelling) rather than Ghat.

We did not pay anything for permits and I will check my records tonight for costs of guide etc. We split the cost of a guide between 3 vehicles - 7 people

The archaeological sites vandalized last April with spray paint in Acacus have been closed to the public indefinitely.
The Tourist Police and A. P G. issued a letter to all tourist agencies stressing that the Acacus region will remain open to tourism except for the areas where the damaged rock paintings are located.
