2005 Apr. to Dakar
 

This Apr. i wanna go to Dakar through Morocco and Mauri with my 94' range rover classic.

my plan is following a formal(normal) route to there. no tough off-road and adventure.

need some suggestion for the equipment. shall i bring all those high liftjack or air bags for in case stuck in the sand?

no deal at all, since 08/2003 importing personal cars older than 5 years is forbidden in senegal. without carnet they will not even let you enter the country. in that case you have to transit senegal, more or less non-stop.
you will be escorted by custom officers from border to border.

Atlantic route to Dakar is frequently done by 2wd. The moment you have any sort of 4wd, you will not need any equipment at all. You don't even need to let the air out of your tyres.

Have fun, it's a good trip but make note that there is a LOT of western Sahara - it's a bit of a slog that section...

We picked up a french guy who sold his in the minefield; just go straight where all the cairns direct you right (there's a hillock and a stripped car on the right 05/2004) and the so-called "guides" will pounce on you and start negociating. He got a little less than he would have got in NKT but he saved a mountain of administrative hassle. He jumped into a pickup taxi back to Dakhla at PK 43.

does mauri customs will stamp sth. on your passport when u cross the border between Morroco and Mauri? sth. like "entry with viechle".
