Which border, Kazakhstan into Krygystan

Hi All,

From Kazakhstan into Krygystan I am looking for recent, say last 6 months, on the crossing formalities, and any difficulties.

The border crossing points I find are.

1, Karasu
2, Korday
3, Sypatai Batyr
4, Aisha Bibi - Chingkapta.

Korday and Aisha Bibi are favourites at the moment.

Next stop would be Torugart Pass into China.

I cannot remember the name. but it was the direct road between Almaty and Bishkek, that is the one I used in August last year

It was extremely hot, the border guard was a total arsehole and made me go back and forth fill this out that is not right do it again, then asked for $50, by this stage after being very diligent in doing what he asked I jacked up, that was too much.

After I got my phone out and started to call someone I knew in Almaty, a girl came out and said he was joking. I stuck my head in the booth, grabbed my paperwork, finally stamped and let loose and gave that dickhead a lot of my mind, and got away with it.

I think others have probably had a better experience, maybe I just got him on a bad day, but in the end the paperwork is quite simple.

You still need copies of passport, vehicle papers

Cheers

Korday

Ah yes, that WAS a funny place !

Let's see, the vans/taxis were coming/going on all sides of the road.

Pedestrian traffic was herded (quite literally) through a contraption barely fit for poorly treated livestock.

The booth where it was necessary to have the Customs paperwork was "round back" and you had to step up on an old broken piece of desk furniture to reach into the woman who was nominally in charge.

My favorite moment was just after Immigration where two officials got in a fight pointing me in opposite directions. This set off the German shepherd watch dog . . . much ado about barely something.

All to enter KZ . . . bit of a letdown ("go through it, not to it").

.
Thanks,
Fills me full of confidence !:oops2:

The main road from Almaty to the border is road A2.
The road from the border to Bishkek is M39.
So I am guessing your crossing border was at Korday.

Any insurance, or local taxes to pay?

Thanks,

vette

Not that I recall, I did not document this section as well as I should, mainly due to the fact of internet blocking.

As I could not access Wordpress, Youtube or facebook because of censorship I did not do many reports around this area

I only recall what I wrote above sorry, but if it was anything real unusual I would have remembered

Sorry
