Where in Europe November and December

Hello all. Being unfamiliar with Europe, I'm wondering if there are any interesting places to be visited in the months of November and December. I'd like to see the whole continent, but naturally cold prevents this. Is it worth taking the trip now? Or would it be best to wait for warmer weather? Thanks much

Greetings, Wade.

I'd recommend seeing northern countryes. Norway, Finland (strongly recommend to see Lapland). And if you need some other uniques - my homecountry Estonia is a place worth to see too. But for Lapland and Estonia, i recommend summertime, it's quite cold here in the winters...

I don't know the precise statistics, but here a lot of ex-USSR products - Dnepr, IZ, JAWA, M, Ural.

They're sure bigger in numbers, but on the roads you find mostly quality bikes (Yamys, Suzus, Kawis, Hondas etc), because ex-russian bikes doesn't work so well http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif.

Oh, and KTM Adventure and enduro fanatism is beginning to be very popular here too - country has a lot of roads to offer for such motorcycles.

Best of Regards, Margus

I'd love to see Norway and the northern countrys, being of Norwegian decent and all, but arn't those countrys too cold for a bike in November and December? If it's mild enough to see those countrys, I'll just see the whole continent while I'm at it.

No offense meant Wade but I don't Know if they could be much colder than Longville, Minnesota in the winter.
How late in the year do you ride at home.

Hi,

Correct. If you like riding on snow in sub-zero temperatures, then northern Europe is right for you. ;-)

If you prefer riding in the dry and higher temperatures then at this time of the year you are pretty much confined to the mediterranean coast or the very Southern parts of Europe.

But, are you seriously intending to see ALL of Europe in 2 months?

Yea, we don't do a lot of snow riding arround here. Right now in Longville it's about 35F, And I confine my trips to less than 30 miles, and quite frankely avoid that when I can. The only reason the bikes not winterized is because I plan to take it somewhere warm. Basically I don't wanna trade one icecube for another. And no, I wouldn't try to see all of Europe in 2 months, but I also would not confine myself to one or two countrys. Is winter riding popular in europe or something? Thanks for your input.

We have very similar meetings here in Estonia too:

And it is a real romance of riding in deep winter... http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif No doubt - adventure from it's own class.

Crazy (: Still, it could be fun with tire studs, it would be suicide without them I'd think. Studs are illegal here so I plan too avoid that sport for now.

I'm not sure what countries you want to cover but we did 26,000 kms, 23 countries, in 3 1/2 months this past summer.

The places I can recommend are Corsica, Sardinia, southern Italy, Croatia coast, Greece islands, and south coast of Turkey.

Not sure on temps for your months of travel.

Also suggest a bike suited for rougher roads, not that there horrible, but several countries we travelled had rough tarmac.

Thanks for your reccomendations. The trip you took sounds like the one I have in mind. It would be a sort of sampler of the continent. I'd go slower, but I plan on going back and revisiting the highlight locations in the future anyway. I think, however, that I will postpone any travel to Europe untill the summer months. It just doesn't make sense to spend all that money, and not get to see Ireland, and Norway, not to meantion all the other countrys I've always dreampt of seeing. thankyou all for your help on this topic.
