Wanted: Routes through Slovenia Croatia Bosnia & Herzegovina Montenegro Albania

Hi guys,

Just wondered if anybody has routes they can recommend on and off road for motorcycle travel through any of the below:

Slovenia
Croatia
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Montenegro
Albania

It would be amazing if anybody has GPX files etc to help us plan. If so please fee free to email me the route to rob@tallylight.tv

We're leaving very early in the season (Mid March) which isn't ideal so any advice or places to avoid would be great.

Thanks Again.

Hi

If you have that much time, then get yourself loking at the tracks and routes created on BestBikingRoads.com

They have some great ideas, and plenty to choose from

Cheers from Laos

I went through the Balkans on my way to Mongolia this year. I decided to take the Adriatic coastal road. Croatia is gorgeous, lots of good twisty roads. Make sure you check out Dubrovnik, I skirted it but wished I'd stopped, it's beautiful. Bon Voyage. I wild camped and stayed in hostels, but the latter are probably seasonal. The Anton Hostel in Tivat, Montenegro is great, especially if you like hippy communities (take the small road behind the gas station and follow it up the hill).

There are some good forest roads in Slovenia - logging roads etc, which are easy to get to. They are everywhere, particularly around Bled and Lake Bohinj. Also do the Visic Pass - spectacular. We did the coastal road in Croatia as well - superb riding, even on the manky scooters we were on.

Also did some very rough tracks - which might have been actual roads; not sure - in the hills above Tirana, and then up and over mountains towards the Greek border in the Pogradec area. We didn't have a route as such, just a general direction down through the Balkans, Albania, Montenegro and Greece then onwards to Mongolia, but just followed tracks and roads that looked interesting, as we found them. And we were on 110 Chinese copies of Honda C90s, which made it all the way to Ulan Bataar via some very dodgy roads. So if they can, then anybike can, even in crappy weather.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
