From the posts here over the last few months, the Nigerian visa has gotten more problematic and the standard rule is that they now want you to get your visa issued from the Nigerian embassy in your home country, not on the road. Certainly try in Accra, and let us know if that is still the case. You might end up having to courier your passport back.

As for Angola, be thankful that you have the visa already, there was just a post this week stating that the historically best place to get an Angolan visa (Abuja) was unsuccessful so I doubt that you will be able to get it extended elsewhere.

As for the other countries, Benin and Togo you can get at the border. Cameroon you can as well, but most pick it up in a country prior to be safe, being turned back is no fun. Guinea - don't know, the main route actually by passes it so not sure it's worth the cost. Gabon I picked up ahead of time, same with Congo-Brazzaville and DRC. Probably best to do the same. There was a recent kerfuffle with a rider (Margus?) having a hard time getting into the DRC with a visa not issued in his home country so you may want to search for that post here and stop at a DRC embassy on the road to see if that is still the case.

Happy riding, please post your experiences to keep everyone up to date.

Luis - could you please post back about the situation with the Nigerian visa and if you could get one in Accra? I am headed that way and don't have a visa.

Thanks

Charlie

Got DRC visa in Accra , same day ! . Nigeria visa , I went to the embassy , and said that I should get it in Benim . In Benim and after a whole day dealing with it + letter from my consulate , they gave me a 7 days transit visa , but I tell you is not easy , even at the border they were surprised I got a visa in Benim . In both cases I think I was extremly lucky . I also got visa for Gabon in Benim . Whats the best plaace to cross from Nigeria to Cameroun ? Can you get visa at the border ?

You should be able to get a Cameroon visa at Calabar

Cross over from Calabar via a ferry or head slightly North (200km) and cross at Ikom.

Road conditions not the best though. The crossing at Ikom (Ekok) to Mamfe has challenging road conditions, last year and early this year, a few people posted that the road was ok but recent postings say the road is still as bad a before (think 50km in 5 hours if using a motorbike), maybe a day on a truck.

Let me know if you need more details.

Cameroon visa 55.000cfa in calabar for 2 month visa, if you try hard they will also give 3 month. 2 day service.

Greetings from calabar

Chris
