Turkey - Black Sea coast and the east

We heading across Turkey to Iran via the Black Sea coast.
We would prefer to camp but struggling to find much information on camp sites etc.

Anyone any experience of camping in this region?
Recommendations of good stopovers?

Thanks,
Andy

Hi mate;

Turkey doesn't really do camping in terms of campsites very well. You can wild camp.

I'd say go to Kumbet if you can, it's kind of cool. The black sea coast is not a pretty as the roads that lead to it. If you have time zig-zag. Also go from Rize (Of) to Ispir and then to Erzurum. That is a road and a half.. it's amazing.

Would also like to say don't ignore Georgia and Armenia, a small d-tour but worth it. The Iran border is also quieter from what I hear.

Take care and have fun!
Oli
