UK to Romania via Nurburgring - Best Route?

Hi -

I am planning to visit an old friend in Targu Mures in Romania and I quite fancy the idea of taking the bike (Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS). I want to take in as many countries as possible on my jopurney and I was thinking about France, Germany (I'd love to ride the Nurburgring), Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia & Hungary on the way out and then Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France on the way back.

Anyone done this?
Suggested routes please? and recommended hostelries on the way - confortable, decent value, good food, somewhere safe for me and the bike. :-)

Cheers

Hi, travelled a very similar route in 2009, after the 'Ring' head to Koblenz for the night, campsite a few minutes from centre (pre-booking campsite is advised). Southern Poland and Northern Slovaki are both excellent. great place to stay in Hungary is Route 66 (Biker Camp). Romania, obviously Transfargen and would recomend Brasov. Andy

Check the Nurburgring official website for track opening times. Often it's shut midweek daytime & only opens a couple of hours in the evening. Times & dates are up well in advance. Ben Lovejoy's independent 'ring site has a range of accommodation & information on the area. I stayed at Blaue Ecke Hotel in Adenau, paid more than I wanted but secure bike parking in the yard.

Route-wise usually gone motorway Bruges Gent Brussels Liege then last 100km on backroads, boring but comfortably gets you there for the evening session. Can't help after that as always gone south not east!

Hi Henry

in 2009 I followed the Carpathian Mts. If you check their location you will find that they take you through some of the countries you mention plus a day through part of the Ukraine. My return journey was via Hungary, Slovenia, N. Italy, Switzerland and France. I mainly camped. If this is of interest to you I can probably dig out the route, turn by turn and the campsite details. It was a great trip and mainly went through the countryside. Let me know if you want further info.

Hi Dave,

I am planning a route to possibly the Ukraine this summer. We'd like to take in the Carpathians. The Ukraine was our target destination before turning back. I posted a thread asking for advise/info last night. Would be great if you could help.
