UK to OZ, how long to prepare?
 

I have wanted to travel to Oz overland by bike (to visit a friend out there!) for a while now.
I am now in a situation where I could go next year.

Being realistic, how long to plan; Visa's, Carnet's, jab's the route and prepare the bike?
Would it be doable within a five or 6 month period ie Next May.

I would think that would be plenty of time, depending on how organised you are. I met a somewhat eccentic Swiss guy a few years ago who was packed and on his way in under two weeks and that included building a trailer for his Goldwing! He did find the rig a bit of a problem in the mountains in NZ as the trailer weighed about 400kg. He even had an electric heater AND yes a cake mixer in there.
