uk, germany, hungary, romania - jul/aug '04
 

hi all,

doing trip as per subject title leave 27th july. (see message under travellers seeking travellers).

any places, sights, roads, etc, that i shouldn't miss? i expect to be in hamburg, heilbronn (germany), szeged (hungary) and black sea/transyllvania (romania).

Hi,

if you are travelling through Heilbronn, how about turning SW through the Black Forest to Freiburg and all along the Alps to Salzburg and further on to Hungary? I reckon southern Germany is the most scenic part of the country.

More spectacular of course are the main Alps. So if you travel due south from Heilbronn to the lake Bodensee (Lindau), swing along the main passes in Austria and northern Italy from west to east.

A shorter trip would be to travel due east from Heilbronn, pass through Regensburg (very beautiful old town centre) and then go through Zwiesel and ride along southern Czeck Republic, visit Ceske Budejovice and Brno (also beautiful town centres). Then you would pass through Slovakia to Hungary.

thanks for the suggestion - i might do that - the black forest sounds inviting and i have had no time to do any real research or planning for this trip so the idea is gratefully recieved.
