Turkey-Georgia border crossings

Hi

Busy route planning for a trip next year.

Does anyone have any information on the border crossing into Georgia from Turkey at Posof?

I'd also like info on the road to the border. On my map its shown as an unpaved, seasonal track.

Cheers

Dan

We used this border crossing three years ago in the other direction.
Was very sleepy! Seemed as we where the only foreigners for hours if not days!
Good choice.
The one at the sea (close to Batumi) is a bit busier, but still very relaxed!

Regarding the road: we came from Batumi on the Georgia side: all dirt track then. But we managed it with a Triumph Bonneville (which my girlfriend rides) and a BMW Rockster. Both no Enduros. Means: no real rough stuff! Same on the TR-side. If I remember correctly it was all paved on the TR-side.

In Georgia stay away from the russian guys with the tattooed knuckles! Nasty bastards!

greetings from Colombia

We used this border last year. On the Turkish side the route is paved but with lots of potholes. Once you're in Georgia it's unpaved until you reach the main road to Akhalkalaki.

Thanks Panny and Vdh-be. Sounds as it looked on the map. I like a bit of the rough stuff, though i'll keep away from any tatooed Russians!
