Traveling from Uyuni to Santiago

Hi all,
We are travelling from Alaska to Ushuaia and right now we are in La Paz.
What route would you take to go from Uyuni to Santiago?
We are considering Route 40 through Argentina or the route of the chilean coast which I imagine is faster but more boring.
Any advice or comment would be very helpful.

Thanks

Ola,

Since I have done both, I would reccommend to take ruta 40 (great landscapes). Yes indeed the coastal road becomes quiet boring, though there are very good side-trips to undertake into the national parks.
This might be an idea: Uyuni-salt planes-southwest Bolivia-cross over to Chil,San Pedro de Atacama-cross over to Argentina at Huaytiquina-take the ruta 40-cross over again to Chili, Santiago.

Enjoy!
