Traveling from Texas to Mexico
 

Hi,
Has anyone traveled to Mexico lately? I hear such horror stories about riding in Mexico. We are planning a trip in a couple months. Any suggestions on where to stay away from or any problems anyone encountered?

I'm planning a rtw trip in 2014 starting in Austin Texas and travelling through Mexico and all the Central American countries. I'm planning to spend about a month in Mexico before heading to Belize and Guatemala.

I've been reading about Copper Canyon and the areas around Oaxaca. I figure a couple of weeks exploring those areas and riding between the two should quickly use up my month. Not planning to do Baja.

I'm keen to hear what route you take into Mexico from Texas and also any comments about travelling the agenda I outlined.
