Train to Copper Canyon - can it carry a motorcycle

Someone told me that it is possible to put my bike (KLR) on the train to Copper Canyon, Mexico. I was thinking of doing that from Chihuahua, then riding the canyon and on to Los Mochis. Any info on this?

Not sure what you are saying. You would put the bike on the train in Chih. City, unload at El Divisidero, and ride to Los Mochis? Or unload at Divisidero, ride, load back up, and take the train to Los mochis? Either way, I would ride to Creel from Chih City, it's only 4 hours or so.

Yah, Steve you're not making any sense. The train doesn't go down into the Canyons. You'd save a few hours riding at best (at the expense of having to stop in Chihuahua and organize your trip around the train schedule). Just ride.

Hot down there right now, I imagine. You didn't say when you're thinking about going, but if this time of year I'd try to stay in the highlands as much as possible....which raises the question, why Los Mochis? Heading for Baja, which will be even hotter?

Not making sense... just part of my naturedoh
Actually, I was only thinking about the train because some bikers in Oaxaca had mentioned that the scenery is spectacular from the train and you can't do the same route by road.

Why now? Because I'm heading from Panama (where I live) to Alaska and it's on the way.

Why to to Los Mochis? Because I plan on taking the ferry to La Paz and heading up Baja. Yeah, it's hot, but I have to pass through southern Cal to visit family. And the heat is nothing new.

But I'm open for any other suggestions. Anyone want to meet up with me on the way? I'm currently in Pachuca, heading from here through San Luis Potosi and then north to Chihuahua.
